Stress – Symptoms and Causes and Tips For Stress Relief
Stress is one of the several methods through which human bodies react to the changes around them. These are different types of changes that occur in the environment on a regular basis. Several factors such as finances, work environments, domestic problems and health lead to various levels of stress in individuals. Stress is not just inconvenient and bothersome but almost 90% of the diseases in modern times are stress related. Hence, it is very important for all individuals to be aware of its various symptoms to ensure timely actions.
Stress symptoms
There are both physical as well as psychological signs of stress like –
Increase in blood pressure
Unusual muscle tensions in the neck and shoulder muscles also reflect a level of stress
trouble in sleeping or a continuous state of stupor
Tiredness without any reason
Stomach ailments, cramps and heartburn
Increased moodiness and have a sense of not being in control of any situation.
Stress causes
Causes leading to stress in individual are case-specific. Generally speaking, these causes may be:-
Financial
Work related
Family and personal relationships
Personal Health and Safety
Death of someone dear.
However, causes of stress and stress disorder in individuals undergo a change as people age. Whatever it is, long-term effects of stress can make you physically ill. Often headaches, stomach pain, back pain or other more serious illnesses are caused by stress.
Stress management
For individuals showing the symptoms of stress, stress relief can come in the form of learning how to manage stress effectively. This is only possible by identifying the sources of stress and taking measures for its remedy. At times friends or family members who are close to the patients can be of help to great extents.
A comprehensive approach to stress management is to make sure you deal with each part of stress. There are three major stresses that need complete attention for stress management are:-
Physical
Nutritional
Emotional.
To be complete, each of these causes of stress needs to be studied and dealt with.
Post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD)
People who undergo some trauma in their lives, including – accident, rape, life-threatening disease, face post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD.
Every client has had a long history of elevated anxiety prior to the triggering traumatic event. This is why some people can go through exactly the same trauma and have few or no adverse effects, yet your mind and body reacted in the way it has. It has nothing to do with weakness on your part. It has everything to do with your lifetime of environment and unconscious learning.
The great thing about this recognition is that we can fix the problem – forever - by concentrating only on the working of the mind.
Stress relief tips
Some of the greatest minds in hypnosis agree that one of the easiest and most effective stress reduction relaxation techniques is based on the simple notion of ‘proper breathing’.
Stress balls are also a method of stress relief. This exercise helps a lot in stress reduction, as well as the muscle tension. The cycle of creating a muscular tension, and thereafter releasing it, is the basic principle that works with stress balls.
Stress relief is a process that helps the stressed person to relax and attain his balance. It is achieved by controlling hormones in the body. There is no magic supplement to relieve stress and it can be attained only through conscious effort.
Listening to music, having a walk, dancing, doing household chores, gardening, playing, writing, and relaxing at a comfortable place are some of the simple and cost-effective methods of stress relief, as are meditation and exercise!
