Set a Schedule
Consistency is the key to any weight loss program. The same goes with running to lose weight. Before you start out, set a schedule when you plan to run at a given day. While it is ideal to run in the morning, you can actually do this at whatever time it is convenient for you, especially if you are not a morning person. The important thing is that you stick to your schedule and stay consistent in order to utilyze the full potential of running to lose weight.
Pace Yourself
If you have not been active for quite a while, it is highly recommended that you pace yourself as you go about your daily regimen. This will ensure that your body will not be overwhelmed with the change of activity. Overwhelming your body can lead to unnecessary stress and injuries. As you progress in your workouts, you can lengthen the distance that you are running as well as the frequency of when you run each week.
Change Your Diet
As with any weight loss program, physical activity should be partnered with the right kind of diet. Start consuming smaller portions of meals that are rich in protein and low in carbohydrates. You will feel full and satisfied much longer. The protein in your diet will help your body build up and repair worn out muscle tissues brought about by your running regimen. Lowering down the amount of carbohydrates that you take in will cause your body to turn to stored fats as a source of energy. This will enable you to lose weight fast while running.
Hydrate Yourself
Always make sure that you carry a bottle of water with you when you are out running. As you sweat, the amount of water in your body gets depleted. If this water is not replenished, your body will start retaining water to ensure that it is constantly rehydrated. Water retention can cause you to actually gain as much as seven pounds, making all your efforts running around in vain.

Great tips on losing weight through running. I love to run on our beautiful trail systems which are full of dense forests and tons of animals. At times I forget it is suppose to be good for me since I simply enjoy the quietness:-)
