Low Carb Diet
The low carb diet is fairly well known now and is becoming more and more popular every day. The main reason that this diet is so well known is because of the Atkins diet which bases the whole diet off of low carb foods. With everyone claiming that the Atkins diet worked for them, it gets people wondering about what there is to the low carbohydrate diets.
There are many diets which base themselves off of a low carbohydrate intake. These diets actually work as long as you follow what you are told to do. While you do not have to follow the instructions exactly as you are said to all the time, it means that you balance it out and you don’t quit the diet if you have one bad day.
One other thing which is very important is you only find a diet that you are capable of following easily. Low carb diets work wonders because the instructions are very easily to go along with. The main conception of the diet is to just keep away from diets with high carbs.
The only carbohydrates that you should consume when on a low carb diet should be complex carbohydrates which you should read up on further.
The main concern with this kind of diet is that the majority of your calories are coming from meats, dairy products, and other foods which are very high in fat. Consuming a lot of fat can lead you to having a higher cholesterol level and you can end up with some health problems which are related to consuming a lot of saturated fats.
It’s suggested that you talk to your doctor before you start on any type of diet and especially one which consists of low carbohydrate consumption. Not every diet works for everyone and some people just can’t knock down the carbohydrates they consume due to the fact that they are most likely to consume more fats and they are already at risk of health problems as it is.
Another problem that people usually have with going onto a low carb diet is that they have to eliminate the consumption of bread, bagels, pizza, spaghetti, and many other foods which you normally enjoy. Most fast foods are high in carbohydrates as well so that means you will have to eliminate your hamburgers, sandwiches, Kraft Dinner, and much more. You also have to keep in mind that alcohol is also high in both calories and carbohydrates and there for you should not consume any of it while on this diet, but for every diet, alcohol consumption has its disadvantages – ahem, beer belly!
Even if you get rid of the high carb foods that you eat, there is still a good amount of delicious foods that you could have. Most meats do not contain that much carbs so having chicken, tuna, beef, and various other meats can be okay on this diet but as you can tell, the fat will add up.
Just remember that this diet doesn’t mean that you can get rid of the high carb foods and just eat whatever else you want. You have to, just like any other diet, eat healthy and exercise regularly so you can see the results.
